Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States other than skin cancer.  Early detection is key to treatment of breast cancer and a screen mammogram is an important element in early detection.  UVA’s Breast Care Program has a dedicated team of breast care specialists, including technicians, radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors and surgeons.

Dr. Jennifer Harvey, Division Head UVA Breast Imaging says, “UVA’s Breast Care Program offers comprehensive care and full range of treatment options for our patients and is part of UVA Cancer Center.  UVA Cancer Center is accredited by the Commission of Cancer and is one of 67 National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer centers in the U.S. for its work in cancer research, prevention, detection and treatment.  UVA Cancer Center provides comprehensive, world-class cancer treatment in an environment of caring for patients across Virginia, led by doctors who have been honored by publications such as Best Doctors in America® and American’s Top Doctors®.
