BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CONSULTANT
Minimum Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience :
One of the following :
• Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field, with a minimum of two years clinical experience and holds a current Virginia license as a LCSW or LPC.
• Doctoral degree in psychology, a minimum of two years clinical experience and holds a current Virginia license.
Competency in providing brief cognitive and behavioral interventions to individuals, families, couples, and groups with identified behavioral health/substance abuse problems in a primary care setting. The BHC will be a part of the primary care team and acquire referrals only from a SVCHS PCP providing feedback to the PCP and co- managing a patient's identified health issues that may speak to both medical , ie., diabetes, cardiovascular, and pulmonary conditions associated with depression and anxiety symptomatology and/or identified major psychiatric disorders that warrant brief psychotherapy services. The BHC will triage chronic patients with major psychiatric disorders that remain unstable and will make the appropriate referral to the local community service board for specialty mental health services.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with primary care staff, patients, and other behavioral health clinicians.
