Medication Assistance Program

Mount Rogers Medication Assistance Program (MAP)

About

Funds have been made available through the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Virginia Healthcare Foundation (VHCF) to establish the Medication Assistance Program.

The Medication Assistance Program (MAP) is designed to help supply free medications for Southwest Virginia residents who are either without prescription coverage or who are currently in the Medicare Coverage Gap “donut hole.” These medications are provided by using The Pharmacy Connection, which has direct contact with pharmaceutical companies.

If eligible, the Medication Assistant Coordinator will assist with all paperwork required for applying for medications.

Eligibility

Eligibility is determined by the companies who provide the medication requested. There are no guarantees that patients will qualify for assistance. Not all medications prescribed are offered on this program. If medications are available and patients qualify for assistance, it may take 4-8 weeks or longer to initially receive medications.

Participants do not have to be a patient of SVCHS, but a Primary Care Physician would have to be willing to sign their applications.
