Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems Hires Registered Dietitian

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) welcomes Registered Dietitian, Caitlin Davis.

SVCHS is grateful to be the recipient of a gift from the late Tom Merrihue. Mr. Merrihue had a great concern for the health and wellbeing of the residents of Meadowview and surrounding communities. In honor of his gift, SVCHS has established the Tom Merrihue Diabetes Treatment and Education Center located at Meadowview Health Clinic in Meadoview, Va.

Davis is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where she completed her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition.  Her previous experiences include serving as the Impatient Clinical Dietician at the VA Medical Center in Johnson City, Tn. Davis was recognized as the 2019 Tri-Cities Young Dietician of the Year through the Tri-Cities Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Davis said, “I grew up in Abingdon, Va., and the people of the community hold a special place in my heart. I love the Appalachian culture that this area brings – everyone is family, and no one is unwelcome.”

She is happily married with one fur baby, a boxer named Samson and enjoys just about anything outdoors, such as skiing, hiking, and gardening.

“I am excited to bring nutrition knowledge to the patients of SVCHS, as it is something that everyone can benefit from. Food is a huge part of our culture and transforming that culture to include healthy choices is essential,” Davis said.
