Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems Recognizes the Month of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) is going pink during the month of October for breast cancer awareness.

All throughout the month, patients are encouraged to wear pink to their visits since pink is the official color of breast cancer awareness.  On Friday, October 18, 2019, SVCHS will be celebrating Pink Out Day. Patients are encouraged to wear pink to their appointments on this day to receive a small gift and to be enters to win a larger door prize.

Each of the four SVCHS sites, including the Southwest Virginia Regional Dental Center and New Day Recovery will have Breast Cancer Awareness Support Boards in each of the lobbies. Everyone is encouraged to come by to leave notes of support for friends or family members who are battling breast cancer, in memory of notes, or honor notes.

A scarf and hat drive will also be held at each of the four sites, including Southwest Virginia Regional Dental Center and New Day Recovery.  These will be donated to cancer patients at the Ballad Health’s Regional Cancer Center in Abingdon, Virginia. Each site will have a box set up to be able to receive donations.
