SVCHS to Host Open House for New Tazewell Community Health Center Pharmacy

Community invited to stop by May 20 to learn more about affordable medications and coordinated care

TAZEWELL, Va. (May 13, 2026)Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems (SVCHS) invites patients, community members and local partners to attend an open house for the new Tazewell Community Health Center Pharmacy on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 386 Ben Bolt Avenue in Tazewell.

The drop-in event will give visitors an opportunity to meet the pharmacy team and learn more about its integrated, patient-centered approach to care. The pharmacy’s new location at the Tazewell Community Health Center helps improve access to affordable medications; simplify prescription management; and strengthen coordination between patients, providers and care teams across Southwest Virginia.

“We are excited to open the Tazewell Community Health Center Pharmacy and expand access to convenient, patient-centered pharmacy services for the Tazewell community,” said Pharmacy Operations Manager Kara Yates Halstead, PharmD. “This pharmacy reflects SVCHS’s mission to improve health and quality of life by helping patients access the medications, support and care they need close to home. We are especially excited to provide fully integrated pharmacy services within our comprehensive primary care model by working closely with our providers to make care more connected, convenient and effective for our patients.”

Open to both SVCHS patients and members of the community, the pharmacy makes prescription services more convenient through its location inside the health center. Patients can take advantage of affordable medication options such as select low-cost prescriptions, patient assistance programs for qualifying individuals and synchronized refill services that allow medications to be coordinated into one monthly refill. Some medications can also be mailed directly to patients’ homes or picked up at participating SVCHS locations, including the Meadowview and Saltville Community Health Centers.

By bringing pharmacy services directly into the health center, SVCHS reduces barriers to care and improves coordination between pharmacists, providers and care teams. The model allows patients to more easily manage medications, communicate with their healthcare providers and access support services through one connected system of care.

Community members are encouraged to stop by anytime during the open house on May 20 to tour the new space and learn more about the pharmacy’s services. For more information about the Tazewell Community Health Center Pharmacy, call 276-385-1022.
