ACERCA DE SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS:
SVCHS es una asociacion de cuidado de la salud de la comunidad que servir al pueblo de esta region con cuidado primaria y integral que es compasivo, asequible, y enfocado en el paciente. Que consta de un grupo de centros de salud de la comunidad sin fines de lucro, Migrant Health Network, “Alianza de Salud,” el Integrative Behavioral Healthcare Program y el Southwest Virginia Regional Dental Center, SVCHS se estableció en 1979 para mejorar los servicios de salud y brindar atención médica primaria integral a las comunidades a las que servir.

El Migrant Health Network (MHN) o “Alianza de Salud” provea servicios de salud basicos para trabajadores migrantes y temporales del campo y para sus familias en el sur-oeste de Virginia. Un programa de Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc. el MHN, “Alianza de Salud” esta financiado por la Bureau of Primary Care, Migrant Health Division.

Los condados servidos son: Lee, Scott, Russell, Smyth, Washington, Grayson, Carroll, and Patrick.

Los actividades del MHN, “Alianza de Salud,” estan supervisado por un consejo asesor que incluye trabajadores del campo, productores, proveadores de cuida de salud, y lideres de la comunidad.

El MHN, “Alianza de Salud,” provea muchos servicios en un escala movil a los trabajadores migrantes y temporales del campo. Los servicios incluye, pero son limitados a, lo sigiuente: servicios medicos de atention primaria, educacion de salud, alcanza,evaluaciones de salud, referencias, y manejo de casos.

Nuestros companeros clinicos incluye: Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc., Clinch River Health Center, and Stone Mountain Health Services.

Los trabajadores de salud del MHN, “Alianza de Salud,” identifican problemas de salud y ayudan a los trabajadores del campo a obtener cuida medica en uno de los centros de salud.

Trabajadores migrantes y temporales del campo estan de alta riesgo para problemas de salud porque de mushos facotres que incluye: la falta de transporte, la falta de conocimiento de recursos, la falta de recursos para pagar para cuidado,las barreras del idioma, y su estilla de vida movil.

Los trabajadores migrantes del campo tienen problemas diferentes y mas complicados que los de la poblacion general. Trabajadores migrantes del campo sufre frequentamente de diabetes no tratado, alta presion de sangre, enfermedades respiratorios, dermatitis de contacto, problemas dentales, infeciones de urina, y problemas musculoesqueletico.

Ademas de la personal de MHN “Alianza de Salud,” muchas voluntarias ayudan con el programa incluidos, Doctores, enfermeras, dentistas, estudiantes de las universidades, practicantes de la enfermeria y otros miembros e la comunidad.

MHN outreach workers identify health problems and assist farmworkers to obtain healthcare at one of our clinical partner centers.

In addition to the MHN staff, many volunteers assist with the program including doctors, nurses, dentists, college students, nurse practitioners, and other community members.

About

The Migrant Health Network (MHN) provides basic health services for migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families in Southwest Virginia.  A program of Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc., the MHN is funded by the Bureau of Primary Care, Migrant Health Division.

Program Goal

To improve access to healthcare, health education, and wellness activities for migrant and seasonal farm workers of Southwest Virginia.

Lee, Scott, Russell, Smyth, Washington, Grayson, Carroll, Patrick, Tazewell, and the City of Bristol

Advisory Board

The activities of the MHN are overseen by an Advisory Board that includes farmworkers, growers, health care providers, and community leaders.

Services

The MHN provides many services on a sliding scale to migrant and seasonal farmworkers.  Services include, but are not limited to, the following:  primary care medical services, health education, outreach, health assessments, referrals, and case management.

Why are migrant farmworkers at risk for health problems?

  • Lack of transportation
  • Lack of knowledge of resources
  • Lack of resources to pay for care
  • Language barriers
  • Mobile lifestyle.

Typical Health Problems

Migrant farmworkers have different and more complex problems than those of the general population.  Migrant farmworkers suffer frequently from untreated diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory diseases, contact dermatitis, dental problems, urinary tract infections, and musculoskeletal problems.
